England Manager Hails Man Utd Star Rashford and Even Tip he Could be England’s Ronaldo

The England boss believes that the youngster needs time to grow, but is on pace to be a world superstar much like Old Trafford former favorite.

Could Marcus Rashford be a Cristiano Ronaldo figure for England?                               Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate believes the Manchester United youngster is a “special talent” and has likened him to the Juventus and Portugal star, even pointing out that the 20-year-old is better in front of goal than Ronaldo was at that tender age. Rashford scored the winning goal for England against Switzerland on Tuesday, making it three home internationals in row with a goal for the youngster.

And while Southgate knows that there is still plenty of room to improve, he is impressed with the amount of game time Rashford is seeing and believes the youngster can develop into one of the top players in the world.                                                                     “He is a special talent,” the England manager said.                                                                       “Some of the step-overs and things Ronaldo was doing at that age [were remarkable], but Ronaldo wasn’t converting them into the same number of goals.                                      “So we have got to give Marcus time to develop.                                                                      “He has still played a lot of football, although maybe not the continuous starts, and I’m really pleased for him that he leaves here full of confidence.”                                          Rashford has indeed out-paced Ronaldo’s early production with Manchester United, outscoring the former No. 7 in a direct comparison of the pair’s first three seasons at Old Trafford. The England international netted 32 times in 123 games in that period, while Ronaldo managed 27 in 137 outings.

Christian Eriksen Aiming to Copy Recent International Goalscoring Form at Club Level

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen is aiming to copy his recent goal scoring form for Denmark when he returns to club duties this weekend. Following the recent standoff between Danish players and their FA, the star players returned for their opening Nations League game against Wales, with Eriksen scoring twice in the 2-0, taking his tally for the national team to 25 goals in 83 internationals.

The 26-year-old has been a key contributor for the Danes, with him involved in 28 goals in his last 27 appearances (19 goals and nine assists), and now hopes to copy his form for Spurs, who he’s yet to score for this season. As quoted by The Mirror, he said: “I got off to a very slow start with five goals in my first 50 games for Denmark. But my form with Denmark hasn’t been too bad since. It took me a while but I’m finally here, it’s almost going too well, but I hope it carries on.

“I’ve always had many shots, even in the Premier League but I just haven’t scored yet. I’m trying to get in good positions in every game to create something or take a shot but they just keep flying in for the national team. It’s great to have that form going into the weekend.”
